Digital Marketing Manager and Media Strategist

We are looking for a talented part-time freelance Digital Marketing Manager and Media Strategist to join our editorial team at Epiphany. This role involves overseeing our website, social media platforms, and the copy, design, and distribution of our newsletter as well as developing and implementing fresh marketing campaigns to broaden our reach. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects comfortably. They should be passionate about expanding Epiphany’s audience through creative, effective promotion and communication strategies. The Digital Marketing Manager and Media Strategist ensures that all social media, marketing materials, and the website align with Epiphany’s mission: to give voice to the talented and innovative writers of the 21st century and to support both emerging and established writers exploring new terrain, whether experimental or traditional.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize and lead execution on social media and marketing campaigns, focused on promoting: published work in our magazine, current and former contributors; in-person and online events; Epiphany announcements; contests, fellowships, and submission windows; fundraising ventures; cross-organizational collaborations; and any other campaigns the senior staff initiate.
  • Post literary pieces and news updates to the Epiphany website.
  • Post and manage social media content and e-newsletters to ensure consistent branding, promotion, and messaging.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and, in general, make a good-faith effort to stay up to date on Epiphany’s publishing and editorial interests.
  • Supplement graphic designer as needed to create visual assets for web and social media in keeping with Epiphany's style.
  • Develop and maintain website posting schedules while coordinating with both the editorial team and fundraising development team to gather and broadcast content.
  • Be involved in the ongoing aesthetic and practical evolution of our website, magazine, and organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, as well as 2-4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in website management (Squarespace or WordPress), SEO strategies, digital marketing, and digital media.
  • An interest in and familiarity with the contemporary literary landscape and the world of small literary organizations: nonprofits, magazines, presses, etc.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and After Effects. Experience with Final Cut and other design software is a plus.
  • Extensive understanding of typography, illustration, and layout design principles.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • The salary for this part-time freelance position is $12,000 annually, and the estimated flexible schedule is 8-10 hours per week. 
  • Epiphany publishes twice a year (in print) and approximately twice a month online. 
  • The role may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines or for special events.
