Author's Bio

Tracy Slater is a freelance writer who divides her time between Boston, where she teaches writing at Boston University; and Osaka, Japan, where her husband is from.

Her U.S. publications include pieces in Best Women’s Travel Writing 2008, Boston Magazine, the Boston Globe, Post Road, the Chronicle Review, and more. In East Asia, she founded and writes the column Gourmet Girl for Kansai Scene magazine and authors a bi-monthly book review column for the Asahi Weekly, the English portion of one of Japan's major newspapers. She has also published pieces in Japan, Inc., and Kansai Time Out magazine.

Tracy has her PhD in English and American Literature from Brandeis University and is the recipient of the PEN New England 2008 "Friend of Writers" award. She is also the founder of the bi-continental, award-winning literary series Four Stories (www.fourstories.org) , which runs events in Boston, Osaka, and Tokyo.
