Author's Bio

I've enjoyed writing since childhood and was editor of my high school newspaper. As an adult, I made it a habit to write "just for fun" for an hour or two every morning before going into work. My career has focused on ad agency copy writing and then executive positions in strategic brand development and public relations. After working for local, national and international clients, I built a "beach house in a cow pasture" in rural South Carolina where I grow grapes, peaches, plums, figs, blackberries and banana trees. I drive an old Jeep with holes in the floor to let rainwater out.

My first published work, Blue Rubber Pool, blurs the line between memoir and fiction in its description of a mid-life crisis spent in a $200 kiddie pool.

A second novel is under contract for next summer. Two others are in final or close to final revision.

I consider myself a Southern writer telling stories about Southern people and places.

The library at my home, Pineapple Hill, includes hundreds of books covering fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

I enjoy sailing, beaches, and islands—and the people the love them as much as I do.

You are hereby challenged to read Pablo Neruda poems aloud in a hammock such as in my YouTube video.
