Author's Bio

Sophia Falco’s fourth book of poetry is titled: If My Hands Were Birds: A Poem out now published by UnCollected Press (September, 2024). She is also the author of: Chronicles of Cosmic Chaos: In The Fourth Dimension, Farewell Clay, and of her award-winning chapbook: The Immortal Sunflower.  She is the winner of the Mirabai Prize for Poetry,  nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and has over 50 individual poems published in various literary journals and magazines. Currently, Falco is getting ready for her forthcoming fifth book, and pursuing her MFA degree in writing along with a Teaching Assistanship. Furthermore, she was elected to Depression Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) California Chapter Board as Director of Outreach to the LGBTQIA+ Community and as their Poet Laureate, and served from January 2024 - July 2024. She helped them from the ground up to revamp their board. Sophia is a proud part of the LGBTQIA+ community and they will continue to stand with them through her poetry.

Furthermore, Falco graduated magna cum laude along with the highest honors in the Literature Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Their Bachelor of Arts Degree is in intensive literature with a creative writing concentration in poetry. Furthermore, she blogged for The International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF) from April 2020-January 2023. Sophia Falco is a faithful poet since she finds poetry essential to their understanding of the universe all the while living with bipolar disorder 1 since the age of 16 that has presented its challenges along the way. However, now, Sophia is well on her way to make her dream career become a reality to be a Professor of Poetry.
