R.H. Booker

Poet

Author's Bio

R.H. Booker is a Colombian-American poet and writer. His connection to rural landscapes is evident in his work which is often immersed in the South, primarily Texas.

He earned a BS at Texas A&M University and served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He currently spends his time outdoors as a wildlife biologist.

Sky Island Journal concerning his work in the Winter 2026 issue.

"'For Jim Harrison' and 'Belief System' are emotionally vulnerable, boldly kinetic, and unpretentiously sophisticated. They transport and challenge us in ways that poems seldom do. They are powerful yet tender meditations on the presence of absence and the absence of presence, and they bear fruit in such beautiful and unexpected ways. R.H. Booker's craft is tight; his imagery is vivid, and his voice resonates with us. Like all great art, 'For Jim Harrison' and 'Belief System' are gifts that keep on giving; we discover more about them—and ourselves—with every reading. It will be an honor to share these poems with the world."
