Author's Bio

Mark Anthony Thomas is a poet and writer whose work moves between lyric poetry, performance, and documentary storytelling. He began publishing and performing as a teenager in the Atlanta region, later writing for The Red & Black and developing a creative voice shaped by journalism, public life, and the emotional textures of American cities.

He is the author of As I Look and The Poetic Repercussion, and he later served as Publisher of City Limits Magazine, deepening his engagement with narrative, community, and the written word. His poetry has been performed across the country and adapted for stage and film, most notably in Folded Whispers (2022), a poem-driven short filmed at Pittsburgh’s Kelly Strayhorn Theater.

Thomas is currently developing a trilogy of poetic documentary films beginning with In Need of Seawater (2026), extending his exploration of memory, place, and personal history into a cinematic form.
He lives and writes in Baltimore.
