Author's Bio

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Linda McCarriston graduated from St. Mary's High School, received her BFA degree from Emmanuel College of Boston, and a Master's Degree from Goddard College, Vermont. She began her teaching career at Salem High School and after teaching at Goddard and Vermont College, took her poetry prowess cross-country, driving her pick-up truck from Cabot, Vermont, along the Trans Canada Highway with her horse, donkey, cat and dogs to Anchorage. Her career stops included appointments at George Washington University, Washington D.C., and the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College, Cambridge, Massachusetts. A trail-blazing poet and fierce feminist, she authored profound poems and published many works, the best known of which, Eva-Mary, was shortlisted for the National Book Award in 1991. Her other works notably include Talking Soft Dutch (1984), and Little River (2002).
