Author's Bio

The author JL Huffman is a former LPN who continued her medical education at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and is now a retired Trauma Surgeon/ICU doctor. She is a prior medical editor of Northeast Florida Medicine and is published in the surgical literature [publish or perish]. A recent poem, Automaticity, was included in The Pharos, the journal of Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society.

She is the author of three poetry books, Almanac: The Four Seasons [2020], Family Treasons [2021], and Voyage: Vista and Verse [2022], and has won local, state, and national poetry contests.

You can also find her work in the anthologies: Being A Woman Surgeon: Sixty Women Share Their Stories, High Country Headwaters III, & High Country Headwaters IV [Boone, NC], NC Bards Poetry Anthology (2022), PA Poetry Society Poetry 2022, several anthologies produced by Moonstone Arts Center [Philadelphia, PA], and copies of the international Poetry Pea seasonal journals. She is honored to have haiku included in the Asahi Shimbun Japanese publication and the Haiku Dialogue [The Haiku Foundation].

She lives a full life as an avid world traveler and gardener. The author is exercising her muse and writing in diverse genres: poetry, memoir, and fiction. Her recent concentration has been haiku. However, she is currently working on the second draft of a post-apocalyptic novel.
