Author's Bio

DW Chance — Poet of Modern Beat Influenced Free Verse.  One of the last authentic poets still active as an elder having lived the life on ragged edges and capable of capturing on print surviving past 76+.and sti;; producing poetry.

I write from the crossroads of experience and imagination — a modern Beat influenced voice blending satire, surrealism, and somewhat raw confession. My poems cut through the polite noise of contemporary verse, favoring free-form rhythm, spoken cadence, and unapologetic honesty.

Drawing influence from Kerouac, Bukowski, Ginsberg, and the existential edge of post Vietnam War, I build poems that read like jazz riffs — unscripted, unfiltered, and alive with irony. The lines expose vanity, absurdity, and the human fault line between idealism and decay.

A 7 year  Navy Vietnam veteran and lifelong observer of the absurd, DW Chance crafts verse that refuses sentimentality yet reveals the bruised heart beneath cynicism. His poetry collections — from No Sweat, GI to Toot Sweet, You Dig? — stand as modern Beat dispatches from America’s backroads and backrooms, where truth and illusion still wrestle for the last word.
