Deborah Bachels Schmidt

Deborah Bachels Schmidt lives in El Sobrante, California with her husband Daniel and dog Hazel. A member of the Marin Poetry Center and co-vice president of the Ina Coolbrith Circle, she is the author of a chapbook, Stumbling into Grace, published by Orchard Street Press. With Mary Eichbauer, Johanna Ely, and Laurie Hailey, she is co-author Love’s Meditation, soon to be released by Random Lane Press. She has also self-published four chapbooks. Journal credits include Blue Unicorn, California Quarterly, The McGuffin, The Lyric, and The Exacting Clam. Her poems have appeared in numerous anthologies, including Cosmos, From Pandemic to Protest, Identity and the Self, Living Voices, Pandemic Puzzle Poems, Sunflowers,  and Upside Down and From Below, and have earned awards at the Poets' Dinner, the Coolbrith Circle contest, and the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition. She is a Pushcart Prize nominee and a 2022 finalist for the Malovrh-Fenlon Prize.
