Author's Bio

The author of several works of fiction and poetry, Benjamin Kwakye is the winner of two regional Commonwealth Writers Prize awards, for Best First Book and Best Book.  His other awards include the IPPY Gold Award for Adult Multicultural Fiction. A 2017 ScreenCraft Short Story Contest Semifinalist, his novel, The Clothes of Nakedness, has also been adapted for radio as a BBC Play of the Week.  He is a recipiet of the 2000 Afrique NewsMagazine WEB DuBois Award for Literature.  Kwakye’s poetry has appeared in numerous publications and anthologies.  Kwakye holds degrees from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School.  He is a director of The Africa Education Initiative.
