The 33rd annual Write on the Sound Writers Conference, a program of the Edmonds Arts Commission, was held from October 5 to October 7 at the Frances Anderson Center in the waterfront town of Edmonds, Washington. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as manuscript consultations, information sessions on publishing, readings, and open mics. The faculty included poet Janée J. Baugher; fiction writers Scott Driscoll, Craig English, Bharti Kirchner, Michael David Lukas, and Kirsten Lunstrum; creative nonfiction writers Melissa Hart and William Kenower; and marketing professional Jennifer Bardsley. Fiction writer Cara Black delivered the keynote, and poet Claudia Castro Luna gave a featured reading. The cost of the conference was $295. Manuscript consultations with poet Janée J. Baugher, fiction and nonfiction writer Gloria Kempton, or editor Elizabeth Lyon were available for $40 each. Space was limited; registration was first come, first served.
