The 24th annual Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway was held from January 13 to January 16, 2017, at the Stockton Seaview Hotel, a resort located near Atlantic City, New Jersey. The program, sponsored by Murphy Writing of Stockton University, offered workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as one-on-one tutorials, featured readings, and open mics. The faculty included poets Stephen Dunn, Laura McCullough, Sharon Olds, and James Richardson; fiction writers Joyce McDonald and Carol Plum-Ucci; and creative nonfiction writer Barbara Hurt. Tuition, which included some meals, ranged from $445 to $695, depending on the workshop; lodging was not included. The cost for room and meal packages was $275 for a shared room, $475 for a private room, or $664 for a shared room package with a non-participating guest. Scholarships were available for first-time participants; the deadline for the Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship for writers over the age of 31 was November 15, and the deadline for the Jan-Ai Scholarship for writers between the ages of 18 and 31 was November 30.
