Funding/Employment Opportunities: 

The program offers full funding. All students receive teaching assistantships in both creative writing and freshman composition. In addition to their teaching stipends, all students receive complete tuition remission plus scholarships.

Other Features: 

Fiction writers and poets are admitted in alternating years. Persons wishing to write poetry should apply in even-numbered years. Persons wishing to write fiction should apply in odd-numbered years. UW-Madison’s English Department permits its PhD students the opportunity to request a minor in creative writing. The program does not offer a PhD in creative writing.

For admission in fall 2018, the program will accept fiction students.
