weatherly was born November 3, 1942 in Scottsboro, Alabama. He is the author of <i>Maumau American Cantos</i>, <i>Thumbprint</i>, <i>Climate/Stream</i> with Ken Bluford, co-editor of <i>Natural Process</i> with Ted Wilentz, and author of <i>short history of the saxophone</i> from The Groundwater Press. His grandparents were Sippie Wallace and Jimmy Rogers, and Hilda Doolittle and Wallace Stevens. </i>
