Author's Bio

Steven Parlato, writer and Professor of English, lives in CT with his wife and two children. His poetry appears in Freshwater; Volume 5, of MARGIE: The American Journal of Poetry; Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review; Pirene's Fountain, and Peregrine. Steve’s flash fiction was nominated for a Readers’ Choice Award on the website, 55 Word Stories. His poem, “Her absence shows,” won 3rd prize in CT Poetry Society’s 2007 Brodine/Brodinksy Contest, appearing in The Connecticut River Review, 2008. Steve has been a featured poet at The Wednesday Night Poetry Series in Bethel, CT and in poetry readings at Burgundy Books in East Haddam, CT; the Bradford Mansion at Avery Point, Groton; and Lemon 'n' Lyme Gallery, Old Lyme, CT. His YA novel, THE NAMESAKE, which won a 2011 Tassy Walden Award for New Voices, released January 18, 2013, from Merit Press. Parlato's second YA novel, THE PRECIOUS DREADFUL, was published by Simon Pulse in February 2018.
