The Residency Writers Conference, sponsored by the Master of Fine Arts in Writing program at Pacific University, will be held from January 10 to January 20, 2019 in Seaside, Oregon, and from June 13 to June 23, 2019 in Forest Grove, Oregon. The conference features craft talks, workshops, panels, readings, and time to write. The faculty includes poets Ellen Bass, Marvin Bell, Eduardo C. Corral, Kwame Dawes, Dorianne Laux, Shara McCallum, Joseph Millar, and Matthew Sheonda; fiction writers Chris Abani, Claire Davis, Jack Driscoll, Pete Fromm, Frank Gaspar, Laura Hendrie, Cate Kennedy, Valerie Laken, Mary Helen Stefaniak, Willy Vlautin, and Kellie Wells; and creative nonfiction writers Sanjiv Bhattacharya, Judy Blunt, Claire Dederer, Debra Gwartney, and Scott Korb. For the January residency, the cost of tuition is $1,800. The cost of a private room and select meals is $900. Submit up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 pages of prose, a personal essay, a critical analysis, and a $50 application fee. For priority consideration, submit all materials by September 1, 2018 for the January residency and March 1, 2019 for the June residency. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
