Funding/Employment Opportunities: 

The program offers partial funding. The program currently offers some funding to all MFA students, and full graduate assistantship funding for all students who qualify to be a graduate assistant. The program offers three competitive fellowships per genre per year, which cover tuition and cost of living. The College of Arts and Sciences offers both competitive tuition remission awards and diversity fellowships. MFA students are often recipients of both awards. The department offers travel grants to cover a portion of conference costs.

The program hosts a biweekly reading series, which brings writers to campus for readings and workshops. Students can work for the program's national literary magazine Puerto del Sol, the reading series La Sociedad para los Artes, or intern with several independent presses: Apostrophe Books, Jaded Ibis Press, and Noemi Press.
