The program offers partial funding. The program offers a stipend and full-tuition remission for those with assistantships. The program offers teaching and service assistantships, as do other units in the university.

This program features the Good Thunder Reading Series of visiting writers as well as the Writers Bloc series of community readings.

The application deadline to be considered for a teaching or other graduate assistantship is February 1. Applications continue to be reviewed after this date, but with less chances for departmental financial support.
