The 2022 Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference was held in Minnesota’s Northwoods at Bemidji State University from June 20 to June 26. The conference featured workshops, craft talks, panels, an evening reading series, and manuscript consultations for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty included poets Kimberly Blaeser and Douglas Kearney, poet and essayist Aimee Nezhukumatathil, fiction writer Benjamin Percy, and creative nonfiction writer Joni Tevis. The 2022 Distinguished Visiting Writer was poet and essayist Claudia Rankine. The cost of the conference, which included a five-day workshop, was $795 through April 1 and $875 thereafter. Half-hour manuscript consultations were available for an additional $75. An auditor option, which included all conference events except a workshop, was available for $180. Workshops were limited to 12 participants; registration was first come, first served, beginning March 1. Housing on campus was available for $210 for six nights. Scholarships were available. Using only the online application system, writers submitted 5 to 10 pages of poetry or 10 to 20 pages of prose by May 10. There was no application fee. Visit the website for more information.
