The 28th annual Mendocino Coast Writers Conference was held from August 3 to August 5 at the Mendocino Coast Campus of Mendocino College in Fort Bragg, California. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft talks, readings, manuscript consultations, and publishing pitch panels with editors and agents. An optional post-conference daylong Publishing Boot Camp was held on August 6. The faculty included poet Shara McCallum; fiction writers Lewis Buzbee, Jody Gehrman, Lisa Locascio, Kat Meads, and Michael Lukas; and creative nonfiction writer John H. Evans. Participating publishing professionals included agents April Eberhardt, Elizabeth Kracht, and Jessica Sinsheimer; editor Hilary Lawson; and book marketer Ann Edwards. Nonfiction writer Michael Krasny deliver the keynote. The registration fee, which included meals, was $575 before June 30 and $625 thereafter. One-on-one consultations were available for an additional $60. Participation in the post-conference Publishing Boot Camp was $150. Lodging was available at area hotels for discounted rates.
