The 29th annual Mendocino Coast Writers Conference was held from August 2 to August 4 at Mendocino Middle School in Mendocino, California. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft talks, readings, manuscript consultations, open mics, and pitch sessions with editors and agents. The faculty included poet Indigo Moor; fiction writers Vanessa Hua, Elizabeth McKenzie, Jason S. Ridler, and Shanthi Sekaran; and nonfiction writer Linda Joy Myers. Participating publishing professionals included agent Duvall Osteen (Aragi Inc.) and editors Susan Chang (Tor Books) and Summer Dawn Laurie (Tricycle Press). Fiction writer Elizabeth Rosner delivered the keynote. An optional post-conference daylong Publishing Boot Camp taught by publishing industry expert Jane Friedman was held on August 5. The registration fee, which included most meals, was $575 before May 15 and $675 thereafter. One-on-one manuscript consultations were available for an additional $60. Participation in the Publishing Boot Camp was $150. Lodging was available at area hotels for a discounted rate. General registration was first come, first served.
