The program is genre-flexible; all students are welcome in all workshops. Though the core genres are poetry, nonfiction, and fiction, workshops are offered regularly in screenwriting and playwriting. The program offers several reading series, including Readers & Writers, The Underpass: Readings by the LSU MFA Program, and the Creative Writing Program’s Distinguished Visiting Writers Series.

The application fee for U.S. citizens and residents is $50; the application fee for international applicants is $70. Fee waivers are available in certain circumstances.
