Long Live the Book

In response to the "I Hate Reading" Facebook page (which is "liked" by nearly half a million people), Lindsay Thompson, an account manager at AbeBooks, created this brief appreciation of books. And if you find this inspiring, check out one of several (sadly less popular) "I Love Reading" pages that have popped up on Facebook.

That's exactly how I feel.

That's exactly how I feel. As a resistant e-reader/buyer I wish I had room for new books in my collection. Now Iam forced by volume to go to the libarary to rent books. Mostly romance, fiction books. Bestsellers and NY Times Bestsellers Lists. Its the feel of the book that gets me plus the new book excitment that stilumates my imaganation. I will always LOVE BOOKS.

Long Live the Book

I can't imagine not turning the pages of books. I love the smell of libraries, love to touch the covers both old and worn, or new and slick. I can use a variety of neat bookmarks, and if there were no books, I guess I'd have to use them as mobiles to hang in my office. Hey, not a bad idea, but I won't be using any of the ones currently in the pages of those wonderful volumns I'm reading!

I LOVE BOOKS

Isn't it sad that children are missing the wonders of books I mean really... the smell of a book the sound of a page turning, not being able to sleep because you JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I feel sorry for the people that don’t have that in their life. Reading is an escape to another place, books enable us to use our imaginations and in turn birth the next great invention. I believe wholeheartedly that part of the reason youngsters can endure teasing, are so socially inept and are obese is because in addition to not going out to play, personal electronics such as smart phones and video games have replaced books comics and graphic novels. As for the e-readers... I WILL NEVER BUY ONE!! Part of the love of the story is the love of a book. it will never need to be charged and if kept dray and away from fire you will have it to pass on to your children. and even if it gets wet you can dry it out and laugh to yourself about the crumpled pages.
