Iceland Writers Retreat

The 2026 Iceland Writers Retreat will be held from April 15 to April 19 at the Fosshotel in Reykjavík. The retreat features workshops, panels, lectures, receptions, and time to write for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers, as well as literary tours of Iceland. The faculty includes poet, fiction writer, and nonfiction writer Ian Williams; poet and nonfiction writer Jesse Thistle; fiction writers Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Susan Choi, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Ann-Marie MacDonald, and Kamila Shamsie; and nonfiction writers Helen Jukes and Evan Osnos. The cost of the retreat ranges from 360,000 ISK (approximately $2,861) to 460,000 ISK (approximately $3,655); a 10 percent discount is offered to Poets & Writers Magazine readers. Lodging and travel are not included. Attendees are offered a special discounted rate at the retreat hotel of 24,800 ISK (approximately $197) per night for a private single room and 28,700 ISK (approximately $228) per night for a private double room; breakfast is included with the hotel fees. An optional two-day extension, which includes additional writing time, two three-course dinners, and an open mic night, is available for an additional 54,000 ISK (approximately $429).
