The program offers an honorarium for a local student to serve as editor in chief for Jelly Bucket, Bluegrass Writers Studio's literary journal; multiple scholarship opportunities; international travel grants; and graduate assistantships on campus within the Noel Studio in the library. Students attend a two- to four-week residency each June/July in either Lisbon, Portugal, or at the Eastern Kentucky University campus in Richmond, Kentucky. Students participate in online workshops throughout the rest of the year. Opportunities are available for cross-genre study.

The application deadline for the fall semester is August 1; the application deadline for the spring semester is December 1; the application deadline for the summer residency is March 1.
