Djerassi Resident Artists Program

The Djerassi Resident Artists Program offers monthlong residencies from February through November to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators on a 583-acre ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains, approximately 37 miles south of San Francisco. Residents are provided with a private barn loft or studio, which includes a bed, a work space, and a bathroom (which may be shared with one other person) as well as meals. To apply for residencies in 2026, submit up to 10 one-page poems (excerpts of a longer poem of up to 10 pages are accepted) or no more than 30 pages of prose and a curriculum vitae with a $40 application fee by September 19. Following these guidelines, translators may submit a writing sample of poetry or prose in English along with the matching selection in the original language.
