Author's Bio

Diane is a poet-memoirist, visual artist and small-press publisher. She is a prolific writer, publishing in journals and giving featured readings. Her work is motivated by an intimate awareness of human beings, of the natural world, and the delicate balance between the two. Her poetry has appeared, or is scheduled to appear this year, in the journals and anthologies listed below and in the links on the lower right. The link "Diane Moomey Resume" leads to a display of her poetry books. Diane grew up around the Great Lakes and since then has lived and wandered around the US and Canada. Now she dips her gardener’s hands in California dirt, and reads regularly at poetry venues in the San Francisco Bay Area . . .

I’ll call it fiction: Where names appear, they are not as they were; I would not like to turn the corner of a book and find myself dressed in someone else’s words. These are not photographs but impressionist portraits: an eye here, an ear over there, hands anywhere, some pieces left out entirely. The People are in disguise. The Land is presented as it is and was, is presented as itself. The Land needs no protection from, is neither embarrassed by, nor charmed by, human words. (from the prologue: "Place: the Heart of the Dragon", 2010)
