Dalkey Archive Press has finally found a new home. Less than a month after the twenty-two-year-old nonprofit publisher abandoned its plans to move from its current location at Ilinois State University to the University of Rochester, Dalkey Archive announced on December 1 that it is moving to the University of Illinois, Urbana–Champaign. The press's contract with Illinois State University, which is located in Normal, will expire on December 31.
A report published by the Chronicle of Higher Education yesterday states that the press will move to the University of Illinois—only an hour's drive from the press's current location—later this month. The university will provide space and other support, but Dalkey Archive will remain an independent nonprofit organization.
Dalkey Archive's previous contract, under which the press would have moved to the University of Rochester in upstate New York in January 2007, was dissolved last month due to "logistical issues."
