The program offers partial funding with a limited number of graduate assistantships available.

Other Features: 

Students may take courses in playwriting and scriptwriting for film and television as electives. The program is housed in the English Department at Chicago State University and features a Visiting Writers Series. Many events are offered in collaboration with CSU’s Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing, a literary and cultural center invested in researching, teaching, and disseminating information about acclaimed Black writers. Students in the program undertake coursework in African American literature and non-African American literature.

The application deadline for the spring term is December 17; the deadline for the fall term is July 15.
