Chellis Glendinning

Author's Bio

After near 25 years living in desert pueblos in northern New Mexico, I now live on an organic farm north of Sucre, Bolivia. My books explore the interface between personal and political as played out in social issues. Much of my writing has focused on a systemic analysis of mass technological society, a la Lewis Mumford, Jacques Ellul, Jerry Mander, Kirkpatrick Sale, etc. New horizons: I just finished my first novel (unpublished as of April 2013) about an antique store in Cochabamba that sells only artifacts from revolutions and social movements. Two of my books, Off the Map and Chiva, won the National Federation of Press Women book award for nonfiction, and my poetry was selected in the Persimmon Tree contest for international poets, plus a Gemini Magazine Poetry Open Honorable Mention. Here in Bolivia I write editorials for Los Tiempos and adore my hundred-year old Royal typewriter.
