Author's Bio

Catherine Abbey Hodges is the author of Instead of Sadness, selected by Dan Gerber as winner of the 2015 Barry Spacks Poetry Prize and published by Gunpowder Press. Her poems have appeared widely and been selected for Verse Daily and The Writer's Almanac. In addition to her work as a poet, she teaches composition and literature at Porterville College, where she was named Faculty of the Year in 2009.
