The 2017 Catamaran Writing Conference was held from August 6 to August 10 at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California. The conference featured workshops, craft talks, and daily excursions for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty included poets Dorianne Laux and Clarence Major, fiction writers Elizabeth McKenzie and Josip Novakovich, and creative nonfiction writer Pam Houston. The cost of the conference, which included tuition, most meals, and shared lodging on campus, was $1,250; commuter tuition, which included most meals, was $850. Writers submitted five poems totaling no more than 10 pages, or up to 10 pages of prose by July 15. There was no application fee. Workshops were limited to twelve participants each.
