The Library of Congress announced on April 25 that Billy Collins will serve a second term as U.S. poet laureate.

In his first year as poet laureate, Collins developed Poetry 180, a program that encourages high school students to read a poem each day during the school year.

Collins receives $35,000 a year for his duties. He was appointed to his first term last June.
