Beth Cagle Burt, Senior editor of prose journal moonShine review, says “Writing and photography are my passions. She has received several poetry awards including first place in the Shadows Ink bi-annual competition for her poetry chapbook, The Fearless Tattoo. Other poetry awards for individual pieces include first place prizes to honorable mentions in state and national contests.
I served as NC's first woman Poet Laureate from 2005-2010 and was recently inducted into the NC Literary Hall of Fame. My most recent collection DESCENT was published in the LSU Press poetry series. I've read at St. Francis College, Brooklyn, New York, Yale University, UNC-Chapel Hill, among many others. My second book, WILDWOOD FLOWER, received the Lamont (now Laughlin) award for the best second book published by an American poet.
Jessie Carty is the author of seven poetry collections which include the chapbook An Amateur Marriage (Finishing Line, 2012) which was a finalist for the Robert Watson Prize and her newest full length collection Practicing Disaster (Aldrich, 2014). Jessie is a freelance writer, editor, and educator who also works as a paralegal.
