Wonder Mountain Open Source Space

The Wonder Mountain Open Source Space offers two-week residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators in Wonder Valley, California, 15 miles northeast of Joshua Tree National Park on the ancestral homelands of the Serrano, Cahuilla, Chemehuevi, and Mohave (Mojave) Indigenous communities in California. Residents are provided with a private bedroom, desk, and patio in a newly renovated ranch-style house, as well as shared bathrooms. Residents also share access to a kitchen, an outdoor terrace, a stone labyrinth, and a hand-carved stone tub filled with mineral water from the on-site spring aquifer. The cost of the residency is $1,250. Financial aid scholarships between $250 and $450 are available for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC residents. To apply, submit up to five poems of any length or 10 to 20 pages of prose, a personal statement, a brief project proposal, and an artist statement. There is no application fee.
