Ou-Telier offers two- and four-week residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators (with March, June, and September as priority times) at the Ou Gallery in the Quw’utsun/Warmland of the Cowichan Valley, the heart of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Accommodations include a private bedroom in a shared suite, a designated studio in a 100-year-old boatbuilding workshop, a shared kitchen and bathroom, and a year-round patio and deck. Residents are responsible for travel and all meals. Residents have access to forest trails, birdwatching, a nearby farmers market, and views of nature and a creek. The cost of the residency is $1,250 Canadian (approximately $900) for two weeks and $2,500 Canadian (approximately $1,801) for four weeks. To apply, submit a writing sample of up to 10 pages of poetry or prose and a brief statement of goals for the residency. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There is no application fee.
