
The Jan Michalski Foundation offers residencies of two weeks to three months year-round to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators at the foot of the Swiss Jura Mountains in Montricher, Vaud, Switzerland, one hour from Geneva. Residents are provided lodging in private cabins, each with a kitchenette, desk, and full bathroom; breakfasts and communal lunches; and access to a research library. The residency is free; all travel costs are covered, and weekly stipends of CHF 400 (approximately $475) are given for local transportation and groceries. To apply for a residency in 2026, submit the online application with information about professional background, a project description, and writing samples of previous and current work in any language, each of up to 10 pages, by August 27. Accessibility accommodations include one accessible residency cabin; public transportation within 600 feet of the venue; elevators in all multilevel event spaces; accessible sidewalks, pathways, and doorways; accessible restrooms; accessible parking; and a library collection of contemporary literature in Braille. Guide dogs are permitted in the exhibition, auditorium, and library areas for individuals who are blind or partially sighted.
