Good Hart Artist Residency

The Good Hart Artist Residency offers 10- to 21-day residencies year-round to artists and writers, including poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers, in the woods bordering the “Tunnel of Trees” Scenic Heritage Route in Good Hart, Michigan, a village located on Lake Michigan. One artist or writer attends the residency at a time. Residents are provided with a private bedroom, a living room, an open loft with a reading area, a patio, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Residents also receive a $500 stipend. Those attending between May and October also have access to a studio space with worktables and a covered porch. To apply for residencies in 2027 and early 2028, submit a writing sample that includes three to five pages of a work-in-progress and up to five pages of a completed work, a résumé, a statement of intent, a community engagement statement, and contact information for two references with a $35 application fee by January 12, 2027.
