The Essere Writer & Artist Residency will offer a two-week residency from September 20, 2027, to October 4, 2027, at the medieval Camporsevoli estate in the Cetona province of Tuscany, Italy. The residency features time to write, as well as craft talks and individual mentorship meetings with the guest artists in residence for poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators. Residents are provided with on-site lodging in historic homes, which include private rooms and writing desks. Residents also have access to two independent studio spaces, a shared work space with comfortable antique furniture and a view of the Tuscan countryside, a library, and abundant outdoor space with meditation benches and wooded walking pathways. The cost of the residency, which includes 10 three-course dinners and one brunch, is €3,400 (approximately $3,956) for lodging in a shared bedroom and €3,900 (approximately $4,537) for lodging in a private bedroom. Travel expenses are not included. To apply, submit three writing samples totaling no more than 20 pages, a CV, an artist’s statement, and a letter of reference with a $30 application fee by June 15. Five fellowships are available for BIPOC writers, emerging writers, single parents, writers reflecting on identity, and interdisciplinary writers and are awarded based on financial need.
