The Cuttyhunk Island Writers’ Residency for fiction writers was held from September 16 to 23 and October 2 to 9 at the Avalon Inn on Cuttyhunk Island, seven nautical miles off the coast of southeastern Massachusetts. The residency offered workshops, readings, nightly salons, and time to write. The faculty included fiction writer Karen Thompson Walker. The cost of the residency, which included lodging, workshops, meals, and round-trip transportation on the ferry from New Bedford, Massachusetts, ranged from $950 to $1,900 depending on lodging. Using only the online application system, writers submitted a completed application form, a statement of purpose, and a sample of up to 20 pages of prose by March 1. There was no application fee.
