
The 2025 annual Chuckanut Writers Conference, cohosted by the Narrative Project, Sidekick Press, and Village Books and Paper Dreams, was held on June 27 and June 28 at Sehome High School in Bellingham, Washington. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as keynote addresses, craft talks, author panels, an open mic, a faculty reading, and breakout sessions that combined lecture, discussion, and generative writing sessions. The faculty included poets Robert Lashley and Rena Priest, poet and fiction writer Kami Westhoff, poets and memoirists Priscilla Long and Jane Wong, fiction writers Kiik Araki-Kawaguchi and Kathryn Trueblood, and nonfiction writer Thor Hanson. Participating publishing professionals included publishers Lisa Dailey (Sidekick Press), Elaina Ellis (Generous Press), Paul Hanson (Village Books and Paper Dreams), Chloe Hovind (Village Books and Paper Dreams), and Cami Ostman (Narrative Project). The cost of the conference was $395 ($99 for students) and included admission to the opening and closing keynote addresses, plenary sessions, breakout sessions, the open mic, the faculty reading, and signing events.
