The 2024 Biographers International Organization (BIO) Conference was held on May 16 and May 17 at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in New York City; select events were also streamed online. The conference featured panels on craft and current issues in biography, including archival research, writing on science, the intersection of art and politics, and the treatment of factors such as race, gender, class, sexuality, intersectionality, and borders in African American and Asian American biography. The presenters included biographers Thulani Davis, Jonathan Eig, John A. Farrell, Tanisha C. Ford, Samuel G. Freedman, Beverly Gray, Will Hermes, Tamara Payne, and Ilyon Woo. Biographer Kai Bird delivered the keynote address. The cost to attend the conference in person was $345 ($295 for BIO members); the cost for online registration was $99 ($49 for BIO members).
