The 2022 Atlanta Writers Conference, sponsored by the Atlanta Writers Club, was held online and in person from May 6 to May 7 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel. The conference featured presentations on the craft and business of writing, including a workshop on working with book publishing professionals to sell and publish your manuscript, as well as agent and editor pitch sessions, manuscript sample critiques, and query letter critiques for fiction and nonfiction writers. Participating publishing professionals included acquisitions editors Jenny Chen (Ballantine Books), Molly Gregory (Gallery Books), Lisa Diane Kastner (Running Wild & RIZE Press), David LeGere (Woodhall Press), Molly McGhee (Nightfire), Helen O’Hare (Mulholland Books), Chantelle Aimée Osman (Agora Books/Polis Books), and Christine Stroud (Autumn House Press), and literary agents Natalie Edwards (Trellis Literary Management), Zabé Ellor (Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency), Leticia Gomez (Savvy Literary Services), Jeff Herman (Jeff Herman Agency), Sam Hiyate (Rights Factory), Kayla Lightner (Ayesha Pande Literary), Dorian Maffei (Kimberley Cameron & Associates), Megan Manzano (D4EO Literary Agency), Beth Marshea (Ladderbird Literary Agency), and Jackie Williams (Knight Agency). The cost of a single event ranged from $50 to $170; the cost of the full conference was $620. For nonmembers of the Atlanta Writers Club, an additional $50 membership fee was also required. Lodging at the hotel was offered at a discounted rate of $132 per night until April 14. General registration was rolling through May 5; the deadline to submit a manuscript for critique was April 4, and the deadline to submit a query letter for critique was May 2.
