The spring 2024 Atlanta Writers Conference, sponsored by the Atlanta Writers Club, will be held from May 3 to May 4 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel. The conference includes a book fair featuring attendees’ books; presentations on the craft and business of writing, including a workshop on platform building for writers; agent and editor pitch sessions; manuscript sample critiques; query letter critiques; and Q&A panels for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction writers. Virtual participation will be available for all agent and editor pitch sessions, query letter critiques, and manuscript sample critiques. Participating publishing professionals include acquisitions editors Tessa James (William Morrow), Marla F. Jones (Doodle and Peck Publishing), Miriam Khanukaev (Random House), Marilyn Kretzer (Blackstone Publishing), Reagan Rothe (Black Rose Writing), Matt Rusin (Tor Publishing Group), Shawn Reilly Simmons (Level Best Books), Taz Urnov (Soho Press), Pam Van Dyk (Regal House Publishing), Jess Verdi (Alcove Press), and Frances Yackel (Gallery Books) and literary agents Carey Blankenship-Kramer (Belcastro Agency), Lane Clarke (ArtHouse Literary Agency), Christopher Combemale (Sterling Lord Literistic), Sheyla Knigge (High Line Literary Collective), Alexander Reubert (Sanford J. Greenburger Associates), Kathy Schneider (Jane Rotrosen Agency), and Terrie Wolf (AKA Literary Management). The cost of a single event ranges from $50 to $180; the cost of the full conference is $660. Registration for a table to sell merchandise at the book fair is $55. For nonmembers of the Atlanta Writers Club, an additional $60 membership fee is required. Lodging at the conference hotel is offered at a discounted rate of $159 per night until April 12. General registration is rolling through May 3; the deadline to submit a manuscript for critique is March 31. Virtual attendees can submit a query letter for critique by April 30 and one for pitch sessions by May 3. Visit the website for more information.
