The Aldo and Estella Leopold Residency offered monthlong residencies from May through October to poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers in the late environmental essayist Aldo Leopold’s cabin in Tres Piedras, New Mexico. Writers exploring “the relevance of Aldo Leopold’s ideas to 21st century cultural and environmental issues” and/or “committed to reshaping the cultural story about the relationship between humans and nature” were eligible. An additional residency was offered in a single-room casita overlooking the Galisteo Basin Preserve in Galisteo, New Mexico. Residents received a travel and living stipend of $1,000 and were provided with a private room, kitchen, bathroom, and patio. To apply, writers submitted a résumé and a statement of interest with a $20 application fee by February 26. Visit the website for more information.
