The Montreal Review offers long-form critical essays, book reviews, commentaries and interviews, photo essays, short stories, and poetry. It is illustrated with contemporary and classic art by Canadian and international artists. Among the magazine contributors are Pulitzer Prize winners, thought leaders and opinion makers, world-class journalists and academics. The Montreal Review welcomes unsolicited submissions of book reviews, long-form critical essays, and literary non-fiction.

We give priority to book reviews and long-form critical essays in philosophy, art, literature, history and religion. We also accept texts in political and economic theory, environment and ethics.

Jacar Press is a Community Active press publishing fine poetry from Pulitzer Prize winners to poets not yet known. Proceeds from all our publications will go to support progressive programs and organizations working to create positive change in their communities. We also sponsor free and low-cost community workshops and an annual Gathering of Poets, which  has featured writers like Diane Seuss,Carolyn Forche, Ilya Kaminsky, Marilyn Nelson, Li-Young Lee, etc.

Query first. If not entering a contest, your best time to submit is several months after contest deadlines. Since we often publish finalists from our contests, entering those is the best path to follow for publication.

Clockwise Cat: Zen-Surrealism with a Dash of Dada, is a seasonal literary webzine that features verse, reviews, and invective (satire/polemics). Clockwise Cat prefers to receive poems that are in some way akin to the Surrealist, Symbolist, Dadaist, Beat, spoken word, and experimental genres. However, we will regard all well-crafted submissions that brashly flout conventions.

Please read the guidelines!

Southeast Review is a nationally acclaimed literary magazine, first established in 1979 as Sundog, that gives voice to underrepresented and emerging writers on the same stage as well-established ones. We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, book reviews, interviews, and art across our print issues and online. We value eclecticism and boldness, work that makes our readers sit up, think, and see the world differently. Work from SER is anthologized or noted in Best American Essays, Best of the Net, Best New Poets, Best Small Fictions, and the Pushcart Prize Anthology.

We want to find work that is bold and fresh. We ask ourselves: Is it unique, from other submissions we've read? Are there lines that we keep thinking about long after? Is it solidly structured and precise with its language?

Tipton Poetry Journal, located in the heartland of the Midwest, publishes quality poetry from Indiana and around the world.

Poems with the best chance for acceptance are quality free verse which evokes a shared sense of common humanity. The Tipton Poetry Journal is published in Indiana, so themes with a regional focus are encouraged. However, less than 25% of our contributors are from Indiana with a few from outside the United States. Submit 3-5 poems via our submissions manager. If simultaneous submission, please submit each poem separately via http://tiptonpoetryjournal.submittable.com
