Writers’ Room of Boston

The Writers’ Room of Boston is a welcoming and supportive community, workspace and virtual presence for writers in all genres. Founded in 1988, the workspace houses 10 working carrels and an office meeting room. It is located in a secure and accessible building in the heart of downtown Boston that is available to members, 24x7 every day and augmented by a vital virtual presence. The Room sponsors fellowships which provide a year of free access to emerging writers, but as a matter of policy no committed writer is turned away for financial need.

West Side Books

West Side Books is an independent bookstore located in the historic Highlands neighborhood of northwest Denver. Since 1998, the store has been carrying new, used, rare, and collectible books. West Side Books hosts concerts, readings, and other literary events open to the public for free.

Prairie Lights Bookstore

Prairie Lights Bookstore opened its doors in 1978 as a small, intimate bookshop, and since then, it has grown to become a literary institution in Iowa City. Today the bookstore occupies three and a half floors, part of which serves as the coffeehouse Times Club. Prairie Lights, in conjunction with the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, hosts frequent readings and author events with visiting writers from around the world.

The Theodore Roethke Home Museum

Located in Saginaw, Michigan, the Theodore Roethke Home Museum is the childhood home of the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Theodore Roethke (1908–1963). The Friends of Theodore Roethke Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation with the mission to promote, preserve, and protect the literary legacy of Theodore Roethke. The museum currently offers tours of the house, along with poetry readings, talks, workshops, and school programs.

Beyond Baroque Literary | Arts Center

Beyond Baroque is one of the United States’ leading independent literary arts centers and public spaces dedicated to expanding the public’s knowledge of poetry, literature, and art through cultural events and community interaction. Founded in 1968 as an experimental literary magazine, Beyond Baroque is based out of the original City Hall building in Venice, California. The Center offers a diverse variety of literary and arts programming including readings and workshops.

Blue Willow Bookshop

Opened in 1996, Blue Willow Bookshop is an independent bookseller and gift shop. The store offers a wide selection of books for adults and children, along with puzzles, games, and gifts. Blue Willow also hosts regular literary events, book club meetings, and story time readings for children.

Garden District Book Shop

Garden District Book Shop resides inside the historic property called the Rink at the corner of Washington Avenue and Prytania Street, in New Orleans’s Garden District. They carry a large collection of new and used regional titles; design, art, and gardening books; fiction and non-fiction; and signed first editions and limited editions by many regionally and nationally acclaimed authors.

Auntie’s Bookstore

Auntie's Bookstore opened in 1978 in the Spokane Flour Mill under the name of “The Book and Game Company” and has been selling books ever since. Auntie’s moved to its current location in the Liberty Building in 1994. The store carries both new and used books, cards, t-shirts, Spokane specialty items, and other gifts. A full-service independent bookstore, this venue holds events, readings, signings, storytime, and more throughout the year.
