Secret Garden Books

Located in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, Secret Garden Books is a full service general bookstore featuring books for everyone, with a particular specialty in children's books.

They regularly host author readings and signings, talks, book club meetings, and other literary events, and have expanded their programming to include author events, school book fairs, and cultural events throughout the city.

University of Colorado Boulder

Each year, the Creative Writing MFA Program located in the Universit of Colorado Boulder's Department of English hosts the Creative Writing Reading Series to bring innovative writers to the university for a free, on-campus reading. Past readers include National Book Award winner Terrance Hayes, Susan Steinberg, CAConrad, Ronaldo Wilson, Brian Evenson, Lynne Tillman, Claudia Rankine, M. NourbeSe Philip, and Pulitzer Prize winner Rae Armantrout.

Lan Su Chinese Garden

Lan Su Chinese Garden is a nonprofit botanical garden that frequently hosts a variety of tours, workshops, demonstrations, classes, lectures and readings, performances, and exhibits. During the year, members and visitors alike have the opportunity to experience a variety of activities, which enhance visitors’ understanding of Chinese culture and provide opportunities to learn and play. All activities, unless otherwise noted, are free with membership or admission.

N7 Creamery

N7 is a creamery, cafe, and bakery that holds a regular open mic poetry event, Coffee & Poets, every second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM. The event series is hosted by the Depot Open Mic and Lionlike Mindstate.

Located in the heart of downtown historic Shepherdstown, West Virginia, a small college town on the Upper Potomac River, Four Seasons Books offers a unique selection of quality new, used, and discount books. The full-service bookstore hosts a variety of author readings and signings, talks and discussions, and special events and performances.

Kazoo Books and Kazoo Books II are independent, locally-owned bookstores offering a wide selection of quality new and used books and book ordering services. Kazoo Books has been serving the greater Kalamazoo area since 1988, with the second location, Kazoo Books II, opening in 2003 on Parkview in the Oakwood neighborhood. The shops host writing workshops, author readings, book signings, and other literary events throughout the year.
