New York, NY – September 13, 2018 – Poets & Writers announced today that Simon & Schuster will publish The Poets & Writers Guide to the Writing Life. The definitive guide to building a sustainable career as a writer is expected to be released in 2020, the fiftieth anniversary of Poets & Writers, a nonprofit organization founded in 1970 to support writers.
Elliot Figman, Poets & Writers’ executive director, noted that the timing is perfect. “The publication of The Poets & Writers Guide to the Writing Life is just one of the ways we will celebrate our 50th anniversary year. The book will give us a new way to share the accumulated wisdom of fifty years of helping writers,” he said.
The book will be written by Kevin Larimer and Mary Gannon, the current and former editor of Poets & Writers Magazine, respectively. Between them, Larimer and Gannon have spent decades at Poets & Writers, delivering trustworthy information and advice to writers. Additional material will be contributed by guest authors and industry professionals.
Jofie Ferrari-Adler, executive editor at Simon & Schuster, acquired the book. “We couldn’t be prouder to partner with Poets & Writers,” he said. “We expect this book to become the essential source for writers of all stripes to find information, insight, inspiration, and advice on everything from craft to MFA programs, agents and editors to book promotion and beyond. It’s all the information you need, from the organization you trust.”
