Since our founding in 2020, Fantastic Other’s mission has been to provide a place to showcase the literary side of all things speculative. The editors welcome poetry, fiction, flash fiction, and art submissions that contain elements of science fiction, fantasy, magical realism, the paranormal, and surrealism. This is the home for the “other” side of literary fiction.

As always, reading our past issues is the best way to learn what we like (you may find something you like as well). All of our past issues can be read on our website at no charge. We are searching for pieces that celebrate the genre elements of science fiction and fantasy, but also offer something new. We love fairy tales told through new points of view, nuanced and diverse heroes, and stories that critique our society through a speculative lens. Got something strange taking space in your writing folder? We would love to see it!
