Author's Bio

My current project, Exuberance, is a book length sequence of persona poems set in the early years of aviation. Poems from this series have appeared in recent issues of Poetry, Raritan, and American Scientist. I’ve been a fellow at VCCA, Djerassi, and the Martha’s Vineyard Writers’ Residency. I also write nonfiction about American places, including Building Suburbia and The Power of Place. As a professor at Yale University I have taught “Poets’ Landscapes.”
